Chelsea Project - Location Shoot In College

I like this pic because it looks like an 'action shot' where he is about to jump off or something. The texture here is of the sky, I aimed to get something very different.

This is another good pic because it reminds me of a professional pic and I think it could be used for something.

I like this pic but I think it may have been better if it was a portrait photo.

Another pic that looks like it could be used for something (an advert for example)

The plan for this was to get 4 pics of people in different places but they all had to include texture of some form or way. Equipment is only a Nikon since this is outdoors. Location is in college.

My location shoot was the back of the college. The location shoot had to mean something, so I did it about textures. The pic of Chris standing, in my opinion is the best of the 4 because its like an 'action shot' with sky as the main texture. I took these normally, no tripod or equipment because I prefer photographing that way. I was pleased with the results because the compositions of the photos were good and the textural backgrounds turned out well. I could improve by taking these pics somewhere other than college.

Artist Research - Kate Gibb

Kate Gibb has mainly worked in music, as she has done artwork for The Chemical Brothers, Bob Marley, Suede and more. She has also done work for magazines and books. Techniques include collage, textiles, printmaking and illustration. My opinion of her work is that it’s impressive and interesting to look at. I think the best pieces are the prints which have lots of different shapes and colours with various art mediums. Kate has created a lot of covers for The Chemical Brothers, for example the cover for ‘It Began In Afrika’, the artwork is obviously influenced from her own abstract work as both have similarities like shapes and colours. When just looking at The Chemical Brothers album artwork I’ve noticed elements such as a blank canvas in the background, the hue/saturation changed and sometimes a combination. Kate is a part of the group Big Active, who are an “award-winning creative consultancy specialising in art design, graphic design and the representation of leading image-makers”, their aim is to “produce creative design and commercial art based upon ideas with an accessible common touch” which is their ethos, and which obviously goes for Kate as well as she has designed lots of album covers, much like the rest of Big Active.

Artist Research - Jasper Goodall

Jasper Goodall is a freelance illustrator. His client list includes companies in music, fashion, advertising and publishing. “In February 2009 Goodalls first London based solo Gallery show titled ‘Poster Girls’ marked a new direction in his work”, where he combined photography with illustration. Nowadays, he still works as a freelance illustrator as well as selling limited edition prints and doing more shows in the future. I like his work, especially the covers and artwork he did for the band ‘Muse’. Specfically, I like the style of the illustration because it’s really detailed and I’ve always liked animation.

Artist Research - Tobin Smith

Tobin Smith is a graphic designer who's done still life and moving image and has worked in advertising. I think his work is very insiprational, my favourite piece is of the gun because it's cleverly done.

Artist Research - DINES

DINES is a graphic designer who has worked with clients such as MTV, Adidas, Nike, Channel 4, Samsung, Orange, BBC. His focus is on art direction, illustration and of course graphic designer. He founded Studio Blup, which is a digital design group where he is currently creative director. I like his designs because they're colourful and mad. One of my favourite pieces is the Nike piece with the big red circle and decaying triangle which resembles a shooting laser or something and also a face stuck inbetween the two shapes.
